Torrance, Calif.-based WePOWER LLC, a manufacturer of vertical-axis wind turbines and a developer of clean energy solutions, has named James J. Abromitis president and chief operating officer (COO). He will help the company expand its innovative wind energy technologies in key markets, including wind farms, commercial and industrial applications, as well as government, institutional users and residential homeowners.
Abromitis has over 25 years in the energy industry across several sectors, including wind and other alternative energy projects, independent energy, utilities, heavy infrastructure networks, manufacturing and finance.
In his role as president and COO, Abromitis will be responsible for design, engineering, manufacturing, technology, product innovation, construction/installation and international operations.

Before joining WePOWER, Abromitis spent five years at Exelon Enterprises, where he served as vice president and general manager of Exelon Thermal Technologies.
Abromitis is a graduate of Villanova University, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. He has an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
