Puget Sound Energy (PSE), a utility subsidiary of Puget Energy, welcomes Andy Wappler, a broadcaster and accredited meteorologist, to the utility's efforts to raise public awareness of the need for energy efficiency and greater use of renewable energy sources.

Wappler joined PSE after being chief meteorologist for Seattle's KIRO-TV. He will be a senior public relations manager for the utility, working primarily with management team members responsible for developing and communicating the company's strategies and messages related to renewable energy sources and conservation. Wappler also will lead the utility's speakers bureau.

‘Andy knows our local weather and our communities and how to bring climate and science concepts down to the neighborhood level,’ says Kimberly Harris, executive vice president and chief resource officer for PSE. ‘We're pleased to have him be part of PSE's efforts to expand renewable resources, such as wind and solar power, and to help encourage customer use of all of our residential and commercial energy-efficiency programs.’

Wappler holds the American Meteorological Society's certified broadcast meteorologist designation and is a graduate of the University of Washington and Northwestern University.
