Maria M. Pope will become Portland General Electric Co.'s (PGE) senior vice president of finance, chief financial officer (CFO) and treasurer. Pope has served as a member of PGE's board of directors since January 2006. She will fill the position left by Jim Piro as he becomes CEO and president on Jan. 1.
‘Maria understands the financial challenges and opportunities that are facing PGE, and I know she will provide the financial expertise, business acumen, leadership and integrity that will allow her to succeed as PGE's chief financial officer,’ says Piro.
Previously, Pope served as vice president and CFO at Mentor Graphics Corp., an Oregon-based software company, where she was responsible for multiple departments, including financial affairs, corporate development and operations. Before joining Mentor Graphics in 2007, Pope worked for Pope & Talbot Inc., in a variety of positions.
Pope has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University. She is a corporate board member of Premera Blue Cross and TimberWest Forest Corp. She also serves on the OHSU Foundation Board and is a past chair of the Council of Forest Industries and the Oregon Symphony.
