ISO New England Inc., the operator of the region's bulk power system and wholesale electricity markets, has elected Kathryn J. Jackson to its board of directors. Jackson, vice president of strategy, research and technology at Westinghouse Electric Co., replaces Donald L. Isaacs, who has retired from the board at the conclusion of his term.
‘Kate brings a wealth of experience to the ISO board,’ says Vincent M. O'Reilly, ISO New England's chairman of the board. ‘Her background is considerable and ranges from strategic planning to asset management, technology administration and public policy. I am confident that Kate will be a strong contributor to ISO New England as we work to help meet the region's energy challenges.’
Prior to joining Westinghouse Electric earlier this year, Jackson spent 17 years at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), beginning as a project engineer for nuclear power in the generating group. She held various executive positions at TVA, including vice president of technology advancements, senior vice president and executive vice president, respectively, in its resource group.
Jackson holds a Ph.D. in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University, two master's degrees, one from Carnegie Mellon and another from the University of Pittsburgh, and a bachelor's degree in physics from Grove City College. She also served as a post-doctoral fellow at the National Academy of Sciences and Engineering.
