Boston-based First Wind, formerly UPC Wind, has appointed Kurt Adams to the position of senior vice president of transmission development. Adams will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of transmission planning for all of First Wind's operating and development projects.
Since 2005, Adams served as chairman of the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) where he managed the 75-person agency regulating key electricity, telecommunications and water utility infrastructure. Adams implemented Maine's energy efficiency strategies, including Efficiency Maine. He also sited and approved infrastructure, including electricity delivery and transmission. Prior to serving as chairman for the PUC, Adams acted as the chief legal counsel and chief energy policy advisor to Gov. John Baldacci, D-Maine.
