Gregory D. Chafee has joined the Atlanta office of Morris, Manning & Martin LLP as counsel in the firm's newly established energy and infrastructure finance practice and green industry and corporate practices.

‘Greg's experience will add valuable support to the firm's already significant corporate and green industry practices,’ says Robert E. Saudek, managing partner in the firm. ‘In addition, the creation of an energy and infrastructure finance practice expands the firm's reach into these important, cutting-edge areas.’

Chafee advises energy project developers, owners, investors and managers about federal, state and local regulatory compliance, permitting, financing, power supply, sales, marketing and distribution contracts and lease/purchase agreements. He has negotiated and structured complex transactions involving electrical production, natural-gas transmission and the generation of alternative energy from biomass, solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower and other renewable resources.

Chafee is a former general counsel of DS Waters of America and associate general counsel of Georgia-Pacific Corp. He has extensive experience handling a wide range of commercial matters in the U.S., European, Asian and Latin American markets, including the formation and operation of public and privately held firms, limited liability companies, partnerships, international and domestic joint ventures and strategic alliances, equity and debt financing arrangements, corporate governance, recapitalization and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

He was most recently counsel at Adler, Pollock & Sheehan PC and received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law.
