Naperville, Ill.-based Broadwind Energy Inc. has expanded its organizational structure and leadership team to support its drive to become the premier component and service provider in the North American wind and alternative energy industry. The new structure will be comprised of key operating platforms, including towers, service, gearing, transportation and heavy fabrication divisions.

‘By segmenting our operating units and adding seasoned top-level executives to focus on execution excellence, Broadwind will be able to support the extraordinary growth we expect in the wind energy market,’ says J. Cameron Drecoll, CEO of Broadwind.

Broadwind named Don Naab president of Broadwind's gearing platform division. He is currently overseeing the company's Brad Foote Gear Works subsidiary. Prior to joining Broadwind, Naab was the president of Smiths Interconnect where he headed up a group of 17 companies within Smiths Group, a publicly traded company in the U.K.

Paul Smith has been named vice president and chief operating officer of Broadwind's tower platform division. In his new role, Smith will oversee the Manitowoc, Wis., operations as well as the Sioux Falls, S.D. and Abilene, Texas, plants that are currently under construction.

Smith has served as an executive consultant for Tower Tech since January. Prior to joining Broadwind, Smith was General Manager of DMI Canada, a manufacturer of wind towers.
