Vancouver, British Columbia-based Xantrex Technology Inc., a producer of equipment that converts and controls variable power from wind turbine generators into alternating current power for the utility grid, has received a purchase order valued at $25 million from a North American wind turbine manufacturer to supply multi-megawatt power converters. Xantrex expects to ship most of the wind converters this year, beginning in the second quarter.
‘Wind products are an integral part of our renewable power portfolio,’ says Mossadiq S. Umedaly, Xantrex chairman, ‘and the fast-growing North American wind market is clearly a strategic target.’
