A worker at the Grand Forks, N.D., regional office of LM Wind Power Group died from injuries he suffered after being crushed between heavy machinery, the Grand Forks Herald is reporting.
An LM Wind Power spokesperson issued the following statement, the Grand Forks Herald reports.
‘Joseph Schaff was injured during a maintenance procedure. He was attended to immediately at the scene of the incident by staff and urgently by emergency services but later unfortunately passed away in the hospital. His family has been informed, the company has expressed its condolences regarding this tragic loss and is caring for the people affected,’ the statement reads.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) is conducting an investigation. OSHA records show that the LM plant in Grand Forks had been cited for violations in the past, according to the newspaper.
LM Wind Power, a Denmark-based supplier of rotor solutions and a provider of blade services, changed its name from LM Glasfiber earlier this year. In addition to Grand Forks, N.D., the company has a regional office in Little Rock, Ark.
