Vestas has appointed Olcayto Yigit as the company's general manager for Turkey. Yigit joined Vestas in 2009 as director of sales for Turkey, and he has 20 years of business experience, including 16 years within the energy sector.
Prior to joining Vestas, Yigit held several senior managerial positions at GE Energy, including sales director of power generation.
Vestas installed its first turbine in the Turkish market in 1984. In January 2008, the company established an office in Istanbul that is responsible for all sales, construction, service and maintenance operations in Turkey. As of Dec. 31, 2011, Vestas had delivered a cumulative capacity of 556 MW to the Turkish market.
Turkey has a goal of attaining 30% of its electricity production from renewable energy resources by 2023, as well as a goal of installing 20 GW of wind power by that year.
