SGS Renewable Energy Services, an independent project surveyor, has appointed Christoph Thiel global business development manager for renewable energy. He will support local affiliates in developing their home markets in accordance with SGS' strategy.
Thiel began his career as a test engineer at WINDTEST Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog GmbH, a subsidiary of Germanischer Lloyd (GL). In 2007, he was appointed business development manager, and in 2008, he was named head of practice for turbine measurements at the company. Thiel was also involved in the merger between GL and Garrad Hassan in 2009.
