Nova Scotia Power signed a long-term agreement with Renewable Energy Services Ltd. (RESL) for a new wind farm in the Strait area of Cape Breton.
RESL's wind farm at Statia Terminals will include 11 new turbines. The company currently has one turbine operating at this site, which is owned by NuStar Energy. The 80-meter-high Enercon turbines are expected to have a total combined capacity of 22 MW.
‘The new wind developments will represent more than half a billion dollars of capital investment,’ says Ralph Tedesco, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Power. ‘We are delighted to expand our business with RESL, a strong and capable Nova Scotia-based company with expertise in wind energy.’
The contract with RESL is the first in a series of projects to be announced as a result of a successful competitive process for adding new renewable energy in the province, according to Nova Scotia Power.
