Hamburg, Germany-based Nordex AG has signed a contract with BP Alternative Energy North America for the delivery of 60 N90/2.5 MW turbines. The contract for delivery and installation of the systems includes five years of service.
‘We are pleased that BP has included our turbine to further accelerate the growth of their U.S. wind portfolio,’ says Carsten Pedersen, chief operating officer of sales and marketing at Nordex.
Nordex has installed about 500 of these turbines around the world and in the U.S. Since 2002, nine Nordex N80/2.5 MW systems have been in operation at BP's refinery in the Netherlands.
Nordex will deliver the first turbines in the second quarter of 2009 and plans to build production facilities in the U.S. during the next two years to meet increasing demand in North America.
