Meteodyn Updates CFD Software

Meteodyn has released Version 4.0 of its Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software for wind resource assessment. The software's automatic code enables wind industry professionals to calculate the wind and estimate wind energy production in complex and forested terrain, the company explains. The calculated data fields include turbulence intensity, vertical velocities, extreme wind speeds, shear and veer.

Meteodyn says Version 4.0 is optimized for large wind farms, has been entirely redesigned, features a new graphical interface and is more user-friendly, enabling the user to visualize the entire project on a single window and to centralize files in a dedicated database.

According to the company, the new version also demonstrates the wake effects created by the turbines from surrounding wind parks outside of the computational domain, and one computational domain can now handle turbines from different manufacturers and their associated wake effects. Version 4.0 also allows the user to import, export and work on several projects at the same time, and for several users to launch calculations at the same time on the same application, th0e company adds.
