Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Richard K. Sullivan Jr. has appointed Barbara Kates-Garnick as EEA Energy Undersecretary.
Kates-Garnick joined the EEA's senior management team earlier this month. She succeeds former Undersecretary Philip Giudice, who left the EEA in May.
Kates-Garnick's previous energy positions with the commonwealth include serving as a Department of Public Utilities commissioner and a member of the Energy Facilities Siting Board. She is also a former assistant secretary in the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs.
