Vestas Wind Systems has received a 201 MW order for 67 units of the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine for Horizon Wind Energy's Meridian Way Wind Farm in Kansas.
Meridian Way is being developed and will be constructed, owned and operated by Horizon Wind Energy, a wind project developer based in Houston. Horizon is a subsidiary of Energias de Portugal, S.A., a Portuguese utility.
Horizon is currently developing a portfolio of more than 9,000 MW in over a dozen states. The Meridian Way Wind Farm is Vestas' largest order for the V90-3.0 MW wind turbine in North America.
The order includes the supply and commissioning of the turbines and a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery of the 67 wind turbines will begin in mid-2008, and commissioning is expected to be completed in 2008.
