Global growth consulting company Frost & Sullivan has named GE Energy the recipient of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan North American Wind Power Growth Strategy Award. In announcing the award, Frost & Sullivan highlighted GE's ‘unmatched leadership in manufacturing large-scale wind turbines in North America.’
With a 500% increase in wind turbine production since 2004, GE Energy expects its wind business revenues to exceed $4 billion this year. GE provided wind turbines representing more than 50% of the country's new wind capacity over the last two years, the company adds.
Frost & Sullivan additionally commented in its award presentation that GE's 1.5 MW wind turbine ‘has gained a reputation as the industry standard. Overall, GE has shipped more than 6,500 of these turbines for projects around the globe. This turbine has been highly effective in virtually all terrain and climate environments.’
