Gary, S.D.-based Energy Maintenance Service LLC (EMS), a wind turbine operations and maintenance company, has promoted Jim Mikel to vice president of operations and hired Marco Zvanik as vice president of sales. EMS is an operating company of Naperville, Ill.-based Broadwind Energy Inc.
Mikel joined EMS in 2002 as director of operations. In his new role, he is responsible for leading EMS' field service, operations and maintenance, and engineering groups. His wind energy career began in 1998 with Zond/Enron Wind as its Midwest service representative. Mikel is a licensed aircraft and power plant mechanic and has been an active participant in various American Wind Energy Association working groups.
As vice president of sales, Zvanik is responsible for creating and expanding EMS' relationships with wind plant owners and wind turbine original equipment manufacturers that can benefit from the company's wind energy services. His preliminary focus will be the expansion of services in the 300,000 square-foot blade-repair facility in Abilene, Texas.
Zvanik has 21 years' experience with rotor-blade manufacturers and was formerly involved with inspection, due diligence review and project certification of various wind turbine models and wind plants. Prior to joining EMS, he worked for Owens Corning, DIAB Group and SGS Wind Energy Services.
