Renewable energy policy consultant Ed Holt, president of Ed Holt & Associates, has received a 2009 Green Power Leadership Pioneer Award from the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS). The annual award ceremony recognizes individual renewable energy leaders for outstanding achievement in support of renewable energy.
The 2009 Green Power Pioneer Award was presented to Holt at the annual awards event in conjunction with Renewable Energy Markets 2009, which is taking place this week in Atlanta. The award reflects Holt's 30 years spent promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency.
‘Ed Holt has dedicated the last 30 years to moving the market forward for renewable energy,’ says Arthur O'Donnell, executive director of CRS. ‘Ed has proven to be a highly trusted source of intelligence and clear thinking about the big issues faced by the industry.’
Holt's career spans the earliest programs to encourage energy efficiency in the Pacific Northwest, where he was a planner and program manager for Seattle City Light, to the most recent developments in promoting and preserving green power markets.
In 1997, he authored the ‘Green Pricing Resource Guide,’ a guide to green power marketing for electric utilities and the new breed of retail electricity market.
In the past decade, Holt has co-authored studies on renewable energy certificate policy nuances and market potential for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He also advises the Environmental Protection Agency on green power policy.
