E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R) has announced the completion and commercial operation of 335 MW of wind power projects in Texas. EC&R is the newly created global market unit of E.ON AG, an investor-owned power and gas company. The new company is responsible for E.ON's renewable energy activities worldwide.
This announcement represents another milestone in the execution of E.ON's renewable strategy announced May 2007. EC&R says that in the nine months following that announcement, the company's global portfolio has grown to more than 1,300 MW of installed capacity across the globe.
EC&R entered the North American market through the October 2007 acquisition of Airtricity North America, a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects with offices in Chicago, Austin and Toronto.
‘I am delighted to be moving forward as part of E.ON, and especially proud that during this time of change in the business we have remained focused on our objectives,’ says Declan Flanagan, formerly CEO of Airtricity North America and now CEO for EC&R's North American division. ‘We have commissioned four wind farms since the acquisition and expect significant growth to continue next year for this unit.’
