Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica has named Dirk Matthys CEO of its North American operations, including all manufacturing and development operations.
Matthys joined Gamesa in July, initially heading up North American turbine sales operations after two decades in the steel industry and most recently with ArcelorMittal.
‘I am excited to be leading Gamesa's North American manufacturing and development operations at this critical juncture as we transition to a green energy and carbon-free economy,’ says Matthys.
Gamesa's U.S. headquarters are in Pennsylvania, where it operates two manufacturing centers – a blade plant in Ebensburg and a nacelle facility in Fairless Hills. The plants are completing a re-engineering process to prepare for the company's new G-90 wind turbine model, which is expected to be deployed in 2010.
