Broadwind Energy Inc. has appointed Mark E. Simon vice president of drivetrain services. He has more than 20 years of experience in implementing lean techniques in manufacturing, engineering and operations.
Simon will lead Broadwind's megawatt and kilowatt gearbox refurbishment, kilowatt nacelle rebuilds, field inspections, uptower repairs and turbine oil-change service offerings. He will report to Paul Seppanen, president of Energy Maintenance Service LLC, a subsidiary of Broadwind Energy.
Simon most recently served as chief operating officer for Knight & Carver Wind Group. Prior to this, he held positions of increasing responsibility in the aftermarket drivetrain and components industry.
Simon will be based at Broadwind's Abilene, Texas-based wind turbine drivetrain services center, which is expected to come online at the end of the year.
