Gaspe, Quebec-based Wind Energy TechnoCentre, a not-for-profit wind energy research center, has appointed Andre Lemieux as general manager. Lemieux will begin on Jan. 7, 2008.
A native of the Gaspe Peninsula, Lemieux holds a doctorate in urban studies and a master's degree in urbanism earned at the Universite de Montreal, with specialization in territory planning, and in local and regional development.
Previously, Lemieux was the Ville de Murdochville Recovery Commissioner, where his mandate was to create an environment conducive to the socio-economic recovery of the town after Noranda had permanently closed down its mining operations there.
‘My experience fits perfectly with the mission of the Wind Energy TechnoCentre, which is to contribute to the region's socio-economic reconversion by developing a competitive industrial wind energy network,’ says Lemieux. ‘Moreover, the organization is now entering an intensive phase of development, making my task a very stimulating challenge for me.’
