Germany-based ABM Greiffenberger has developed a new gearbox line for wind turbine yaw and pitch drives. ABM will introduce these new products at WINDPOWER 2009 in Chicago.
The new ABM Greiffenberger yaw drives maintain nacelle positions to the wind to maximize energy generation. A combination of induction motors and multi-stage planetary gearboxes IS used. Motor outputs range from 2.2 kW to 22 kW, and gearboxes are available in ratios from 100 to 2,000. Drive systems have output torque ratings from 2,000 nanometer (Nm) to 50,000 Nm and maximum output torques of up to 100,000 Nm.
According to the company, all system components – motors, gearboxes and brakes – have been carefully tuned and meet the highest demands for quality and durability.
