World Wind Services (WWS) has received certification from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a women-owned business entity. The certification ensures that WWS meets the qualifications of a woman-owned and controlled organization. It helps companies fulfill mandates requiring 5% of all contracts be with woman-owned vendors.
WWS is a San Diego-based service provider to the wind energy industry. The firm provides qualified personnel to the wind industry in both construction and operations and maintenance.
Nikki Cummings, owner and president of WWS, is also a steering committee member for the San Diego chapter of Women of Wind Energy (WoWE). She was one of the nominees for WoWE's 2009 Rising Star Award.
The WBENC is a third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled and operated by women in the U.S. The group provides and manages the development, enforcement and implementation of its gold standard of certification, which is nationally accepted by thousands of major corporations and a select group of government entities.
