The TechnoCentre eolien says it wishes to pay homage to Gabriel Mironov, a talented businessman and innovator who left his mark on the wind power industry. The 33-year-old Montrealer and his son Olivier, 11, died tragically in an avalanche in Alberta in March.
According to the TechnoCentre, Mironov founded Powerhinge Automation Inc. and served as its president from 2003 to 2007. The Montreal-based company developed a hydraulic system to handle wind turbine blade molds that is now used at a number of blade manufacturing plants throughout the world.
In 2007, Mironov founded Suzhou Red Maple Wind Blade Mould Co., a China-based company specializing in the manufacture of wind turbine blade molds, and oversaw its operations as general manager until 2009.
Composites company Gurit acquired Suzhou in 2009, and Mironov then became general manager of Gurit's tooling division, a position he held until 2011, when he once again set up new businesses, in the wood products industry and in train wagon design.
"Gabriel was often described as a genius by his family and friends and by those who worked with him. His creativity was boundless, and he knew how to get the tools and means he needed to bring his ideas to fruition. Gabriel was respected by all his clients, which included the world's major wind turbine and blade manufacturers," says Matthew Wadham-Gagnon, project manager at the TechnoCentre eolien, who worked with Mironov at Gurit.
The TechnoCentre says it would like to salute the exceptional contribution of Mironov to the wind energy sector and extends its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
