Vestas has received an order for 55 units of the V82-1.65 MW wind turbine from Duke Energy. The turbines are expected to have a total installed capacity of 91 MW and will be delivered for the first phase of the Notrees Windpower project in Ector and Winkler counties in Texas.
Vestas will supply and commission the 55 wind turbines and provide service and maintenance for three years. The turbines are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2008, and commissioning is expected to be completed at the end of 2008.
‘We are extremely pleased with Duke Energy's order, which will add to the existing projects in Texas for which Vestas has supplied wind turbines,’ says Jens Soby, president of Vestas Americas A/S. ‘Texas is currently the leading wind state in the U.S. in terms of installed MW, and clearly demonstrates how wind power brings not only clean and renewable energy, but also increased economic activity and local jobs to a state or a community.’
