Taber Wind Farm, developed by Calgary, Alberta-headquartered energy service provider ENMAX Corp., has officially opened. The wind project consists of 27 Enercon turbines capable of producing 80 MW of energy and cost nearly C$140 million to build, according to ENMAX Corp.

The Canadian Government will contribute about C$19 million over 10 years towards the production of electricity from the wind farm, which is located southeast of the town of Taber, Alberta.

With the addition of power generated at the Taber Wind Farm, Calgary becomes the only major city in Canada to draw at least three-quarters of its electricity from green power. Its 262,500 MWh agreement is the largest green-power usage commitment of any municipality in North America, ENMAX Corp. notes.
