Siemens To Supply Turbines For SSE Project

0

Siemens Energy has received an order from SSE Renewables for the supply of 68 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each. The Griffin wind power project is located approximately 30 km northwest of Perth in the Scottish Highlands. The wind power plant will have a capacity of 156 MW upon its completion in 2012.

The scope of supply for the Griffin wind farm includes the delivery, installation and commissioning of 68 of Siemens 2.3 MW turbines. Of the 68 turbines, 61 will have a 101-meter rotor, and seven will have a 93-meter rotor. This will be the first time that a SWT-2.3-101 turbine is deployed in the U.K. Siemens will also provide services for turbine operation and maintenance for an initial period of five years.

The project is expected to provide over 100 jobs during the construction phase.
