Siemens has appointed Thomas Richterich CEO of its onshore wind power business. Richterich replaces Jan Kjaersgaard, who departed in September to become CEO of the Danish offshore structural steelwork company Bladt Industries.

Richterich previously served as interim head of the Central Europe business unit at the Danish wind power firm Vestas. From 2002 to 2012, he also served as a managing board member at Germany-based Nordex SE, where he assumed the role of chairman in 2007.

Siemens' says that with his extensive experience in the wind power industry, Richterich will seek to strengthen the company's position "as one of the leading providers in the field of onshore wind power systems."
