Second Wind Opens Factory For New Wind Profiler

Somerville, Mass.-headquartered Second Wind, a manufacturer of wind forecasting and assessment tools, has officially opened a new manufacturing space on Dane Street in Somerville. The 2,000 square-foot facility will be used to produce Second Wind's new Triton sonic wind profiler.

The building formerly housed the American Tube Works Factory, which opened its doors in 1851, Second Wind notes. The company plans to produce the Triton in small quantities for early customers, but will produce 250 units within the next year and create up to 30 new job opportunities within the Somerville community.

‘To the non-expert, our sonic profiler looks like a giant hot tub with a very high-tech stereo built in,’ says Walter Sass, president of Second Wind. ‘This funny looking device is generating serious excitement in the wind industry, and we expect it to be a big success.’
