Saint-Laurent Energies Obtains Permission To Construct Wind Farm

0

Saint-Laurent Energies has obtained an order in council from the government of Quebec for the construction and operation of the Lac-Alfred wind farm. The order in council authorizes, on the Lac-Alfred site, a wind farm of up to a nominal capacity of 300 MW, using 150 REpower wind turbines rated at 2 MW each.

It is expected that LM Wind Power will manufacture blades in Gaspe and the towers in the Marmen plant in Matane. SEG-Woodward will produce electrical converters in New Richmond.

Subject to obtaining authorization certificates and permits required for this type of activity, as well as long-term funding and all internal approvals, the first phase of construction is expected to be completed in 2012.
