Pepco Energy Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Holdings Inc., has been awarded a new contract to provide 100% wind renewable energy credits (RECs) to the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.
According to the company, the one-year contract, which began in June, calls for Pepco Energy Services to provide the 332-room Willard InterContinental Washington nearly 7.1 million kWh of wind energy certificates from Sterling Planet.
Last December, the hotel signed a six-month contract with Pepco Energy Services to purchase electricity, but stipulated that only 10% of the electricity would be generated by wind farms. The Loyalton Group, an energy risk management firm in Washington, D.C., facilitated both the current and previous contracts, Pepco Energy Services adds.
