Pattern Energy Group LP has announced that one of its subsidiaries has entered into a 20-year power purchase and operating agreement (PPOA) with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority for the sale of 75 MW produced at the Pattern Santa Isabel wind project.
The Pattern Santa Isabel wind project, which is being developed by Pattern, will be located in southern Puerto Rico in the municipality of Santa Isabel and is expected to begin producing electricity in late 2011.
‘The Pattern Santa Isabel wind project will be a premier project that will harness the winds on the southern side of Puerto Rico, which are consistent during the peak hours of energy consumption, making them a unique, local resource for the people of Puerto Rico,’ says Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Energy.
The project is expected to create a significant number of jobs during the construction phase, as well as a number of ongoing permanent positions once operational. Pattern will begin a public outreach program in conjunction with the start of the permitting process for the Pattern Santa Isabel wind project.
