Pattern Energy has made a $100,000 donation to Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research in Newark, Del., to support its mission and efforts on behalf of wildlife. Executives at Pattern Energy were impressed with Tri-State's work in response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, prompting them to make a donation to the organization.
John Calaway, director of wind development for Pattern, traveled to the Gulf Coast to present the donation to Tri-State's executive director, Heidi Stout. Stout is a member of the incident command for the response and has been traveling between the four oiled-wildlife rehabilitation centers set up along the coast since April.
‘As a wind power producer in the Gulf, Pattern has a strong connection to the area, and we have been alarmed to see the bird population devastated by the oil spill,’ says Calaway. ‘The impressive efforts of Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research have inspired Pattern to become a major sponsor behind their commitment.’
