The IEEE Standards Association announced a call for participation for the IEEE P1595 working group to help develop new standards for quantifying greenhouse gas emission credits from small hydro and wind power projects and for grid baseline conditions.
The IEEE P1595 standard will use protocols for wind power, small hydro and grid baseline developed by Canada's Department of Natural Resources – CANMET Energy Technology Centre as its seed documents.
These protocols were developed in accordance with the ISO 14064 Part 2 – International Standard for GHG Projects, which is used by regulated carbon offset credit markets such as those used in Alberta and British Columbia.
The IEEE P1595 working group will be working in cooperation with the ClimateCHECK, a collaborative solutions provider in the GHG and clean technology markets.
