Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, is urging wind energy advocates to unite and push for continued federal tax credits in order to avoid problems the ethanol industry is currently facing, the Des Moines Register reports.
Grassley, who spoke at the Iowa Wind Energy conference Wednesday, said because the ethanol industry is divided and utilizes varying tax credits, it is at a political disadvantage.
‘For most people in Congress, the issue isn't wind, it's whether it should be left to the free market,’ Grassley told the Register.
He also noted that Congress should consider various incentives for the oil, wind, solar and other energy industries as part of a comprehensive national energy strategy.
