Cathie Associates – a geotechnical, geophysical and engineering consultancy for the oil and gas and renewable energy industries – has established a Boston-based hub dedicated to offshore wind.
The international firm also has locations in Paris; Brussels, Belgium; London; Hamburg, Germany; Milan, Italy; and Newcastle, England.
“We have been following the [offshore wind] industry for over five years and supporting a number of planned developments,” comments David Cathie, CEO and founder of the firm. “We feel the time is right to demonstrate our future commitment to U.S. offshore wind and to recognize the importance of local content and American jobs. The creation of our U.S. entity has been in planning for around six months now, so we’re delighted to be able to make this announcement.”
Gareth Ellery, the group’s business development manager, adds, “With the construction of the Block Island Wind Farm and both DONG Energy and Statoil entering the market, momentum is beginning to build. With over 25 GW of offshore wind experience and a growing track record in the U.S., we are excited to support this emerging industry.”
