EDF Renewable Energy (formerly enXco) says it has hired Ryan Pfaff as executive vice president of transactions.

In this role, Pfaff will provide strategic leadership to EDF Renewable Energy's wind and solar business units, as well as direct the valuation, transaction and construction activity for all new projects.

Pfaff brings 15 years of international renewable energy experience to EDF Renewable Energy. He joins the company from The AES Corp., where he was vice president and head of global wind development and was responsible for global wind business development, project finance and construction.

As a member of AES Wind Generation's executive leadership team, he played a key role in defining and executing the company's wind energy business strategy, and in growing the business from an initial base of 102 MW in the U.S. to over 1.7 GW in operation or construction across six countries, according to EDF.

Prior to his role at AES, Pfaff spent eight years in progressive business development and project finance roles with SeaWest WindPower. As executive vice president of project development and finance, he was part of the senior management team responsible for the successful turnaround and ultimate sale of the company to AES in 2005.

Prior to entering the energy business, Pfaff worked in commercial banking with Credit Suisse First Boston and Union Bank of California.
