Americas Wind Energy Corp. (AWEC), a manufacturer of medium-sized wind turbines, has announced recent activities in the market for wind turbines installed by educational institutions in the U.S. and Canada.
An AWE 54-900 kW wind turbine is currently being delivered to Wray, Colo., for installation this month at the Wray RD2 School District. The wind turbine will be connected to the Wray municipal grid and, in addition to producing renewable power, will provide students at the Wray school a firsthand opportunity to interact with wind technology.
AWEC recently responded to a request for quotation for the installation of an AWE 900 kW wind turbine on the campus of Cape Cod Community College in Sandwich, Mass. The college hopes to install the wind turbine later this year.
As part of its final due diligence, a delegation from the University of Illinois recently visited AWEC representatives in Toronto to view the AWE 750 kW wind turbine installed on the Toronto waterfront. The university plans to install three AWE 900 kW wind turbines on a wind farm on the south campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Ill.
AWEC responded to a request for quotation by the University of Maine Presque Isle campus for the installation of an AWE 900 kW wind turbine for research and development, educational and revenue-producing purposes.
Lastly, a proposal has been prepared for Oakland University in Michigan for the installation of two AWE 900 kW wind turbines for revenue and educational purposes.
