Spanish wind farm developer Acciona Energy has been awarded a contract worth C$103.5 million for the installation of 33 1.5 MW Acciona Windpower turbines for a project in Lameque, New Brunswick. The project is expected to generate up to 49.5 MW of power.
The wind park will be wholly owned by Acciona Wind Energy Canada Inc., which will build and operate the facility and sign a power purchase agreement with NB Power for 25 years. The wind turbines will be supplied from the plant a Acciona Windpower recently opened in Iowa. The Lameque facility is anticipated to enter service in November 2009.
