Rachel Shimshak, director of the Renewable Northwest Project, was awarded the Woman of Wind Energy Award at the annual Women of Wind Energy (WoWE) luncheon. Liz Salerno, manager of public analysis for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), was presented with the first Rising Star Award.
Shimshak, who has been at the helm of the Renewable Northwest Project since its inception in 1994, has been an advocate for wind and other renewable forms of energy throughout her career.
Salerno was recognized as a Rising Star for her role as a leading policy analyst for the wind industry. She works closely with AWEA member companies, market and policy analysts on quantifying wind economics wind benefits, and the impact of various projects. She was also the point person on developing many assumptions and methodologies for the Department of Energy's "20% Wind Energy By 2030: Increasing Wind Energy's Contribution to the U.S. Electricity Supply."
