WindSim AS – a provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology designed to optimize wind turbine placement and wind turbine performance – has released the WindSim 5.1, which the company says includes new features, added functionality and valuable extensions.
Among the new features are a forecasting module that calculates the energy production of a wind farm from CFD down-scaled mesoscale weather predictions corrected by Artificial Neural Networks; the inclusion of wake-added turbulence by the Frandsen model; the ability to run wind field simulations while working in other modules or projects; a losses and uncertainties module; and scaled ambient turbulence.
