The North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) has announced that Michael A. Walker has joined the organization as its chief financial and administrative officer.
Walker comes to NERC with 26 years of experience in the electric industry. Most recently, he served as the deputy general counsel at National Grid, where he managed legal aspects of U.S. mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, environmental regulations, real estate, energy markets and business development.
Prior to his role at National Grid, Walker held positions at KeySpan Corp. and KeySpan Services, including vice president and chief operating officer of a KeySpan business unit and deputy general counsel for KeySpan Corp.
‘The opportunity to come to NERC was of great interest to me in light of NERC's role as the North American regulatory authority for bulk power system reliability, especially during a period of such significant transformation in the energy industry,’ he says.
Walker has a degree in biology from Clark University and a Juris Doctor from Franklin Pierce Law Center.
