Viridity Energy, a smart grid technology company, has announced a partnership with Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. The partnership will result in the development of a large-scale energy-storage project that will allow Jefferson to manage its on-site renewable energy resources through Viridity's load control optimization system.
Jefferson recently acquired one-third of the electricity supply from the 102 MW Locust Ridge II wind power project, which was developed by Iberdrola Renewables and is located in Schuylkill County, Pa.
By optimizing energy resources at healthcare facilities, Viridity Energy will help Jefferson adapt to power fluctuations, integrate wind energy and leverage a smart energy storage system.
