Leveraging its performance-improving PowerPlus products, Vestas will upgrade longtime customer IKEA Group’s global portfolio of Vestas turbines, totaling 316 MW.
The upgrades, spanning six different Vestas turbine types, are expected to add an average of 1.5% more energy production.
With the PowerPlus program, Vestas can increase a wind plant’s energy production and efficiency through site-specific optimization of operational parameters, implementation of intelligent software algorithms or enhanced aerodynamic performance.
“We are thrilled to upgrade IKEA Group’s existing energy assets and support them in reaching their target of powering their production and consumption with renewable energy,” says Mariel Alexandra Garrido Urena, Vestas’ head of fleet optimization. “We continue to innovate and develop solutions that can increase energy production, which also means that already operating turbines can be upgraded to yield even more energy.”
IKEA’s global portfolio of Vestas turbines in the U.S., Sweden, France and Poland will be upgraded. This includes the V80-2.0 MW, V90-2.0 MW, V90-3.0 MW, V100-2.0 MW, V112-3.0 MW and V112-3.3 MW.
“It is great that we can extend the cooperation with Vestas and optimize the performance of the wind farms,” notes Krister Mattsson, IKEA Group’s leader of financial asset management. “We value long-term relationships with our partners as we want to work together to improve and develop quality of operation and maintenance services.”
