Vestas Expanding Colorado Facility

0

Gov. Bill Ritter, D-Colo., has welcomed the news that Vestas plans to build the world's largest factory for wind turbine towers in Colorado.

‘Vestas is showing yet again why it is one of our strongest partners in the development of modern energy in the 21st century,’ said Ritter in a statement about the plan, ‘and my administration has worked closely with Vestas over the past few months to make this new factory a reality.’

According to Vestas, the tower facility investment is expected to convince more European sub-suppliers to come to the U.S., where they can join forces with Vestas to support the wind power investments made by North American customers.

The tower production facility will be fully commissioned from mid-2010. As part of this expansion, Vestas says it will also establish a research and development center in the U.S. in 2009.
