Vestas’ Morten Dyrholm has been appointed chairman of the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), a global trade association representing the wind industry.
Dyrholm, vice president and global head of marketing and public affairs at Vestas Wind, succeeds Dr. Klaus Rave, who chaired GWEC since 2010.
“I’m very excited at this new opportunity. As chairman, I will focus on strengthening the role of GWEC in new and emerging markets and help sustain the positive momentum surrounding GWEC after the adoption of the new market making strategy and the many new members that have joined GWEC recently,” says Dyrholm.
Steve Sawyer, secretary general of GWEC, adds, “It’s hard to say good bye to Klaus, who has supported us so well for so long. Klaus was one of the early pioneers of the global wind industry whose invaluable knowledge and dedication will bear fruit for years to come and is deeply appreciated throughout the industry. However, I’m excited to welcome Morten, who I’ve known for nearly a decade, and look forward to working with him to bring GWEC to the next level.”
