Vestas has enhanced its line of 2 MW GridStreamer wind turbines for the North American market, adding proprietary drivetrain and control technologies to achieve higher energy production and improve grid integration.
The company notes that the GridStreamer features an improved load-management system, and the gearbox includes integrated torque arms and a lubrication unit. The turbines, which are based on permanent-magnet generator technology, also include a full-scale converter and improved nacelle access.
‘The 2 MW GridStreamer turbines will allow our customers to use a fleet of efficient and fully grid-compliant turbines for optimal performance across all wind classes and site conditions,’ Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas-American Wind Technology Inc., said in a statement.
Two Vestas models – the V100-2.0 MW and V90-2.0 MW – have received the upgrades. The company will also offer two 1.8 MW and two 3 MW machines to the North American market this year, the company told NAW.
