Turbine Maker REpower Changing Name To Senvion

Wind turbine maker REpower Systems SE, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group, has announced that it will change its name to Senvion in 2014.

According to the company, REpower has been using its name under license since 2001. The rights belong to a Swiss company that is now using this name itself. Therefore, REpower's external corporate design will be gradually changed. The turbine manufacturer will thereafter identify itself using the new brand image worldwide.

Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower Systems SE, says, "This is an important development for us. In addition to having unique products and services, we will also be the only company with this name.

"Senvion may be associated with "innovation,' "energy' and "wind,' and this underlines our focus on renewable energies," Nauen continues. "As Senvion, we will continue along our path as a strong brand and remain an innovative company in the wind energy industry."

The company says it will present its future brand image after entry in the commercial register. Only then will the changeover become official.
